making potions

testing out the Potion app for She Explores on a day hike and tea break. this app is still being developed, and I'm new to using it so my film-making debut is a little jagged. I have to say this app is really fun! basically you take photos, the app adds a few seconds to each shot, and then you compile your video by putting the photos in order and adding music if you like. looking forward to testing it out on our next camping trip and adventures, and I've also put one together that I'll share soon of my mum & I making homemade cioppino.

david

my world seriously changed today. he's been my favorite artist, my inspiration and my hero for decades. I will never forget when I saw him for the first time: spotlit on the stage in a club in Chicago in 1997. the crowd was starkly quiet; he was alone, sitting on a stool smoking and simply playing Quicksand with an acoustic guitar.

you will be missed but never forgotten my love.

patternful

Day 4: Water
Day 3: Olive

more prompts for the January Patterns project. I had a lot of fun drawing waves for water, and luckily I work only two blocks away from the Puget Sound. kinda wish that my submission for the olive prompt was more about color than literally olives but it is a time-sensitive project and that's part of the fun. plus who doesn't love edible props.

cut & paste

birch trees for the #patternjanuary
Day 2 forest prompt. my neighbor's tree has been shedding bark in my yard so I thought it was a sign.

this piece is kind of a two-fer for me: a perfect little pattern for my forest submission and a fun usage for my idea of using these old Roladex cards as small scale collages.

pattern play

participating in the #patternjanuary challenge hosted by Anika Starmer (@aisforanika). I'm really excited for this project, I think it will be the perfect kickstart to my attempt of making something (almost) every day for 2016.

Day 1 prompt <<Happy>>
for me that always involves camping and being in the outdoors.
